About the position

The Life Sciences Sector Leader will play a pivotal role in providing leadership and support for growth within the Life Sciences sector across the STO Building Group family of companies. This leadership position requires a dynamic individual with a deep understanding of the life sciences industry, coupled with a proven track record in project management, client engagement, and team leadership. The focus areas for this role include expanding Life Sciences sector development across all business units by growing the opportunity pipeline, developing win strategies and value propositions, winning new business, and supporting the recruitment and identification of key personnel. The leader will drive engagement within business units and accomplish Key Performance Indicators (KPI) related to account management, new business capture, and strategic outreach through conferences, trade groups, and industry events. In terms of strategic planning, the Life Sciences Sector Leader will develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan in collaboration with Business Unit Leaders and functional department heads. This plan will align efforts with the overall company goals and achieve targeted growth objectives. The leader will identify emerging trends, market opportunities, and potential risks within the life sciences market sector, creating and executing a sector-specific growth strategy that includes building and maintaining key relationships with clients, architects, engineers, trade contractors, and suppliers. Regular meetings with senior management will be essential to provide updates on business growth progress and support needs, along with KPI status. The role also encompasses business development responsibilities, where the leader will work with business units to focus on various types of life science facilities, maximizing wallet share with clients. This includes leading efforts to identify and secure new opportunities, cultivating strong relationships with key stakeholders in the life sciences industry, and supporting the recruitment of key personnel. Additionally, the Life Sciences Sector Leader will oversee the successful execution of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards. Team leadership is crucial, as the leader will build and lead a high-performing team specialized in life sciences construction, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Regulatory compliance is another critical aspect of this role, requiring the leader to stay abreast of industry regulations, codes, and standards related to life sciences construction, ensuring all projects adhere to these requirements while maintaining safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the Life Sciences sector in collaboration with Business Unit Leaders and functional department heads.
  • Identify emerging trends, market opportunities, and potential risks within the life sciences market sector.
  • Create and execute a sector-specific growth strategy, including building new and maintaining existing key relationships with Life Sciences Clients, Architects and Engineers, Trade Contractors, Material and Equipment Suppliers.
  • Meet with senior management on a regular basis to provide updates on overall business growth progress and support needs.
  • Provide KPI status to senior management at regular intervals.
  • Work with business units to focus on all types of life science facilities to maximize wallet share with clients.
  • Grow the opportunity pipeline, provide win strategies and value proposition development to win new business.
  • Support the identification and recruiting of key personnel.
  • Lead business development efforts to identify and secure new opportunities within the life sciences sector.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders in the life sciences industry.
  • Oversee the successful execution of life sciences construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams to optimize construction processes and implement best practices.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of professionals specialized in life sciences construction.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous learning and development.
  • Stay abreast of industry regulations, codes, and standards related to life sciences construction.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to regulatory requirements and maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Requirements

  • College degree in construction management, engineering, science or related field or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 10 years growth or sector development experience.
  • Experience in client relations, business development and marketing strategies in Life Sciences construction, engineering, consulting, or project management.
  • Strong understanding of clients' vision, strategic plans and business challenges including life science sector trends and impacts to partners, government, and institutions.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills are required.
  • Experience with the Salesforce CRM platform is a plus.
