About the position

The Life Skills Associate (LSA) at Elwyn plays a crucial role in providing supervision, guidance, and skill-building support to individuals with autism, intellectual, developmental, and behavioral challenges. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for individuals by assisting them with daily living activities, safety, and vocational skills, while ensuring adherence to their personalized support plans. The LSA is responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive environment, administering medication, and coordinating transportation needs, all while fostering independence and personal growth among the individuals served.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain supervision for assigned individuals at the program site according to their support plans.
  • Supervise, instruct, and support individuals in daily living activities and vocational skills.
  • Administer medication as per medical guidelines and support plans.
  • Coordinate transportation needs for individuals served as applicable.
  • Prepare for and respond to emergency situations, ensuring safety and security at the program site.
  • Complete and maintain required documentation and paperwork for the program site.
  • Ensure the program site operates in accordance with quality standards and state regulations.
  • Assist in resolving problematic situations for individuals served and report unusual occurrences to management.
  • Participate in the Interdisciplinary Team process to support individual support plans.
  • Report incidents as required by regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to independently problem-solve.
  • Certification in CPR and crisis intervention techniques according to agency protocols.
  • Current valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
