About the position

The Lifeguard In Training position at the Andover YMCA is designed for strong swimmers who are eager to learn and obtain their lifeguard certification within 90 days of hire. This role involves shadowing certified lifeguards, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all members. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, particularly for evenings and weekends, and is open to individuals aged 15 and older.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist certified lifeguards while learning programming and emergency procedures.
• Communicate policies and procedures for the pool, body of water, and whirlpool consistently.
• Provide excellent customer service in a safe and positive atmosphere.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 15 years.
• Ability to pass a swim skills test and demonstrate Stage 5 level swimming skills.
• Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Patience and effective communication skills with all ages and levels of swimmers.
