About the position

The Lifeguard position at Citrus County's Parks and Recreation Division involves performing essential lifeguarding duties and providing instructional classes at the Bicentennial Park Pool in Crystal River, Florida. The role requires maintaining safety and vigilance over pool patrons, enforcing policies, and assisting with pool operations and events.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant vigilance over patrons and effectively rescue persons in danger.
• Perform routine lifeguard duties as needed.
• Enforce all policies and procedures set forth by the Division of Parks and Recreation.
• Assist with inventories/supplies for the pool, complete surveys, and track visitors.
• Open, close, and secure assigned facility as directed.
• Perform weekly inspections of the pool.
• Assist with and promote pool schedules, classes, and special events.
• Set up and tear down pool equipment for activities and/or events.
• Monitor weather and swimming conditions and ensure facility cleanliness standards are met.
• Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to successfully complete the required swim test and other prerequisites.
• Valid Florida Driver License or valid Florida Identification Card.
• Successful completion of Level II Background screening.
• Ability to work after normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Strong working knowledge of computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to obtain certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, and AED for the Professional Rescuer.
