About the position

The Lifeguard position at the City of Crystal, MN, is responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons at the pool by preventing accidents and responding to emergencies. Under the direction of the pool manager, lifeguards enforce pool rules, operate safety equipment, administer first aid, and perform rescues when necessary. This entry-level role requires certifications in lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid, and offers a competitive hourly wage along with training reimbursement for those who complete the season.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguard patrons by scanning the assigned watch area for potential accidents.
  • Observe and enforce all pool rules and regulations.
  • Prevent injuries by minimizing and eliminating hazardous situations.
  • Respond quickly to all emergencies and administer first aid as required.
  • Communicate with other guards for assistance and ensure safe use of the waterslide.
  • Attend mandatory staff trainings and educate patrons on the rules.
  • Fill out reports as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum age: 16 years old.
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification.
  • American Red Cross Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications required.
  • Ability to actively listen and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to make decisive judgments and assess problems and situations.
  • Knowledge of pool operations and emergency action plans.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of EAP for emergency situations.
  • Desired knowledge and understanding of pool operations.

Benefits

  • Hourly wage of $17.50 - $18.00.
  • Training reimbursement of $110 for lifeguard certification if the entire season is worked.
