About the position

The Lifelong Wellness Instructor position is a one-year appointment aimed at positively impacting students' lives through teaching various wellness-related courses. The instructor will be responsible for fostering an inclusive environment while delivering engaging content across multiple campuses and formats, including online and in-person classes.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses including LW 220W Lifelong Wellness, LW 221W Fitness and Wellness, LW 222 Science of Nutrition and Exercise, LW 223W Wellness Tech Trades, LW 206A, LWA 206B, LWA 206C Occupational Wellness, and LWT 231W Introduction to Athletic Training.
  • Demonstrate commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Lead group exercise sessions and engage with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in committees, learning communities, or grant projects.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Exercise Science or a Nutrition-related field.
  • Ability to teach on multiple Delta Campuses, including evenings and weekends, in both synchronous and asynchronous formats.
  • 4,000 hours of equivalent work experience in a relevant field.

Nice-to-haves

  • American Council on Exercise Group Fitness Instructor (ACE GFI) certification.
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA CPT) certification.
  • Registered Dietician (RD) certification.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Saver First Aid Instructor Certification.
  • Athletic Trainer Certified certification.
  • Health Coach Certification.
  • Teaching experience at the Community College Level.
  • Experience working with non-traditional students.
