About the position

The Lifespring Engagement Specialist at Cross Keys Village is responsible for planning and facilitating engaging programs for participants living with dementia. This full-time position focuses on enhancing the mental and physical well-being of participants through a variety of activities, ensuring a supportive and stimulating environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the monthly activity program, including creating the monthly calendar and implementing 'The Seven Dimensions of Wellness'.
  • Communicate a list of supplies to the Lifespring manager and facilitate programs.
  • Research, develop, and implement best practices related to the engagement of individuals with Alzheimer's disease or related cognitive impairments.
  • Provide direction, materials, and resources for personalized quality engagement programs based on participants' needs.
  • Promote positive working relationships with campus team members and other Activities departments.
  • Provide one-to-one therapeutic programming as outlined in the Participant's Plan of Care.
  • Independently lead and direct group programming involving participants of all levels of care and capabilities.
  • Encourage social interaction beyond Lifespring by integrating engagement opportunities into the program.
  • Identify participants' losses, strengths, and needs from Intake Assessment and incorporate their interests into monthly programming.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties and maintain an orderly environment.
  • Document participant engagement in team notes and monitor ability changes, reporting them to the Lifespring Day Services Manager.
  • Utilize therapeutic techniques including Sensory Stimulation, Validation Therapy, and Musical Therapy.
  • Communicate regularly with the Lifespring Day Services Manager to address program adaptations or scheduling needs.
  • Recognize and report signs of physical, mental, or emotional changes in participants.
  • Assist up to 28 participants per day with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
  • Promote dignified dining practices and assist with meals.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics and infection control techniques in all job duties.
  • Cover for the Lifespring Day Services Manager as needed.
  • Organize and plan monthly entertainers and coordinate community outings.
  • Participate in organizational committees, special events, and fundraisers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Three to five years of work-related experience providing direct care to older adults is required.
  • Current enrollment in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry is strongly preferred.
  • CPR/FA/AED certification is required.
  • Successful completion of the medication administration and diabetic training course is required.
  • Must be Serv-Safe certified or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire.
