About the position

The LIFTS Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the LIFTS department in Linn County, IA. This role includes supervising employees, managing bookkeeping tasks such as accounts payable/receivable and payroll, and acting as the Emergency Management Agency Assistant Transportation Director during emergencies. The manager is committed to fostering a customer-centered culture and ensuring exceptional service for both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations by scheduling work assignments for drivers and overseeing dispatch.
• Maintain financial records by paying claims, sending out invoices, totaling timecards, and calculating payroll for 25 employees.
• Supervise staff by providing guidance, counseling, and overseeing work projects, including hiring, training, and disciplinary actions.
• Communicate with staff and the public by addressing client calls, handling complaints, and resolving dispatch issues.
• Assist the Director by gathering information for reports and providing input for hiring decisions.
• Manage training programs, safety programs, and drug and alcohol compliance in coordination with the LIFTS Director.
• Listen to customer feedback and work to close gaps between customer expectations and experiences.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Over two years of supervisory experience, preferably in the para-transit field.
• Six months of advanced study or training beyond high school equivalency is required.
• Must obtain a CDL Class C with air brakes and passenger endorsements within 90 days of hire.
• Basic math skills and ability to read and write effectively.
• Computer skills, including proficiency with internal county programs and LIFTS dispatch/routing software.
