About the position

The City of Fresno is seeking a Light Equipment Mechanic Leadworker for the General Services Department Fleet Management Division. This advanced position involves providing lead direction to mechanics and service workers while performing maintenance and repair on gasoline and diesel automotive equipment, including City cars, pickups, and other light vehicles. The role is essential for ensuring the effective management of the City's fleet and equipment needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead direction to mechanics and service workers.
• Perform advanced maintenance and repair on gasoline and diesel automotive equipment.
• Oversee the maintenance of City cars, pickups, and other light vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards in vehicle maintenance.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics and service workers.

Requirements

• Experience in automotive repair and maintenance, particularly with light equipment.
• Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine systems and repair techniques.
• Ability to lead and supervise a team of mechanics and service workers.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
• Experience with fleet management systems.
