About the position

The Line Cook is responsible for the timely preparation of food items for customers according to written or printed orders. This role involves setting up cooking stations, preparing menu items, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and sanitation practices in the kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food items according to written or printed orders in a timely manner.
  • Set up line cooking stations for various cooking methods including grill, broiler, and sauté.
  • Assemble food onto dishes according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Slice, dice, and chop fruits, vegetables, cheeses, cooked meats, poultry, and seafood.
  • Prepare dressings, sauces, marinades, canapés, hors d'oeuvres, and buffet items.
  • Use kitchen equipment such as slicing machines, mixers, and food processors according to standard recipes.
  • Handle meat, seafood, poultry, and produce following proper food-handling procedures.
  • Read and follow recipes and specifications accurately.
  • Adhere to sanitation standards in the kitchen at all times.
  • Use various cooking equipment to prepare foods according to standard recipes.
  • Test cooked foods for quality by tasting and smelling them.
  • Ensure all station products are fresh and meet product specifications.
  • Memorize and execute recipes and specifications accurately.
  • Observe safety and security procedures and report unsafe conditions.
  • Read and retain information regarding daily promotions and scheduled entertainment.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work, looking for ways to improve quality.
  • Assume special projects as directed by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • Experience in a kitchen environment as a line cook or similar role.
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to follow recipes and specifications accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
