The Line Driver position at Lynden Transport involves transporting cargo freight primarily between Dallas, TX and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The role requires driving a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck, ensuring safe and efficient delivery while adhering to company policies and governmental regulations. Responsibilities

• Drives vehicle to specified destination in accordance with company procedures and governmental regulations.
• Maintains contact with dispatcher to receive pick-up or delivery instructions.
• Loads and unloads trailer, ensuring that the load is secure using various tools.
• Hooks and unhooks trailers from tractor or converter dollies.
• Inspects tractor or truck for defects before, during, and after trips, submitting reports on vehicle condition.
• Ensures all shipping documents required to move the shipment are available and complete.
• Maintains records as required, including drivers logs and vehicle inspections.
• Reports any safety hazards and accidents immediately to the on-duty supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; plus one to two years of tractor-trailer driving experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Current, valid Commercial Drivers License (class A) with the ability to obtain hazardous materials endorsement.
• Ability to read and interpret hazardous materials shipping regulations and safety rules.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and conduct telephone communication.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
