The Line Technician at Pennyrile Electric is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical lines, utility poles, and associated equipment. This role requires adherence to safety protocols and the ability to work in various conditions, including elevated positions and on energized lines. The technician will operate specialized vehicles and tools while ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations.

  • Follows all safety rules and procedures.
  • Performs maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of distribution line and equipment.
  • Climbs and works from elevated positions on utility poles.
  • Operates and works from aerial bucket trucks and digger derrick trucks.
  • Erects poles, installs hardware and equipment associated with electrical utility installation.
  • Performs work on energized power lines and equipment.
  • Complies with Cooperative's policies prohibiting harassment and discrimination.
  • Attends safety meetings as required and participates in training to stay abreast of best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High School diploma and completion of TVPPA apprenticeship lineman program or equivalent.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Valid CPR/First-Aid/AED Certification.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret electrical/distribution circuits, staking sheets and work orders.
  • Ability to climb utility poles and work from elevated surfaces.
  • Ability to work for prolonged periods of time in personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with crews, members and the public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledgeable of RUS specifications and materials used in construction, maintenance and operation of a distribution system.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Knowledgeable of service territory, GPS mapping system and TWACS AMR.
  • Knowledgeable of National Electric Safety Code, OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to safely and properly use tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment required for maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement within parameters of the Cooperative's policies/procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, both internally and externally.
