About the position

The Lineworker 1/C position at National Grid involves performing various duties related to overhead line work, including installation and removal of meters, maintaining safety standards, and training crew personnel. Responsibilities

• Perform all duties of a Lineworker 1/C and/or Single Person Worker duties.
• Handle substances considered hazardous as required.
• Follow all National Grid environmental policies.
• Direct and train overhead line crew personnel occasionally.
• Maintain various records and procure all stock as needed.
• Install and remove common meters on single-phase services as required.
• Contribute to crew productivity, safety, and knowledge of the job.
• Act as Field Control Authority and assume responsibility for Red Tags.

Requirements

• Proficient as a Lineworker 1/C as demonstrated by proficiency, testing, and past performance appraisals.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Familiarity with all Safety Standards is essential.
• Retain appropriate qualifications on the National Grid Switching and Tagging list.
• Thorough knowledge of all Construction, Operating, and Maintenance Standards, and Safety Standards and Procedures.
• Proficient with the use of electronic devices and maintaining various records, reports, and forms regarding payroll, materials used, and condition of plant, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to properly operate vehicles, tools, and equipment assigned to the department.
• Furnish an acceptable means of off-hour contact by telephone.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license without restrictions on type of transmission or hours of operation required.
• Maintain a DOT health certificate and a System hoisting certificate.
