About the position

The Linguist (Native Italian) position is focused on developing language components for various voice-enabled technologies and products. The role requires native or near-native fluency in Italian, along with strong linguistic data analysis and language technology experience. The candidate will manage tasks related to data collection, synthesis, annotation, and translation-localization, while also contributing to machine learning model improvements.

Responsibilities

• Provide linguistic expertise in syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics.
• Collaborate with linguists and data operations teams in data collection, curation, translation, localization, and annotation efforts.
• Create annotation systems and guidelines.
• Evaluate and curate data sets for machine learning models.
• Assess model and data quality.
• Develop complex and consistent linguistic analyses.

Requirements

• Master's degree in general Linguistics or related field.
• Native or near-native fluency in Italian.
• Awareness of Italian linguistic, cultural, and local norms.
• Knowledge of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and corpus linguistics.
• Experience working with speech and text data in multiple languages.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and their applications.
• Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• PhD in Linguistics or related field.
• Experience with database queries and data analysis processes (SQL, spreadsheets, R, Unix, etc.).
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks, NLP libraries, and tools.
