About the position

The Linux Engineer position at Akkodis involves overseeing the operations and maintenance of various Data Management applications in a 24x7 support environment. The role requires providing support for web applications, automating configuration management, and ensuring adherence to security policies. The engineer will collaborate with multiple teams to troubleshoot issues and contribute to software development efforts, ensuring optimal performance and uptime of applications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of Data Management applications, ensuring uptime and optimal performance in a 24x7 support environment.
  • Provide support for web applications, including Apache Tomcat, Java, and REST API services, ensuring smooth integration and functionality.
  • Automate and manage configuration using tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Selenium to improve operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate incident resolution and ensure standardized change management processes for efficient handling of system changes.
  • Design and conduct service validation and testing as part of Change Management procedures.
  • Ensure the capacity of application services meets service level targets using enterprise monitoring and capacity planning tools.
  • Collaborate with various teams including development, infrastructure, and management to troubleshoot issues, implement changes, and ensure security vulnerabilities are remediated timely.
  • Utilize scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Shell for system automation and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure the infrastructure and applications adhere to security policies and industry standards.
  • Assist with or contribute to software development efforts, particularly in Java or .NET, to ensure system compatibility and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration and application support.
  • Proven experience with web application support, particularly Apache Tomcat, Java, and REST API services.
  • Proficiency in automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Selenium for configuration management.
