About the position

Atlas Tech is seeking a Linux GUI Developer to support the next generation of Navy tactical communications systems on Linux platforms. This role involves defining, developing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting software and hardware infrastructure related to a GUI interface for a Linux network application. The position is ideal for a motivated and detail-oriented software engineer with a strong Linux background and software development experience, who is looking to contribute to military technical needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers
  • Administering Red Hat virtual machines (KVM) and containers (Docker/Podman)
  • Developing software applications in Python, ReactJS, and TypeScript/JavaScript on Red Hat Linux platforms
  • Automating maintenance tasks using shell scripting (Bash)
  • Maintaining source code in software repositories (Git)
  • Assisting in management of network devices, including configuration of layer 2 & 3 switches and routers
  • Assisting subject matter experts with software engineering change requests (ECR) and software installation documentation
  • Researching and resolving software trouble reports impacting application functionality
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable Department of Defense (DoD) guidelines for IT system security, specifically STIG compliance

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must currently possess and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hardware specifications found in desktops, laptops, tablets, and servers
  • Strong documentation and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple goals and priorities
  • Self-Motivated, strong work ethic and commitment to quality
  • A passion for learning about, and working in the IT industry
  • BS Degree in relevant technical field or combination of education and experience
  • CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent
  • 8-10 years of Linux system administration experience
  • 5 years of software development experience using Python or Java or C#
  • Bash and shell script development experience
  • Technical documentation experience
  • IP Networking experience
  • User Interface Design / HFI
