About the position
The Partner Engineering Manager at Canonical leads a team focused on optimizing Ubuntu for the latest server-class hardware platforms. This role involves collaborating with technology partners to enhance performance and ensure a seamless user experience. The manager is responsible for technical leadership, team development, and maintaining high standards of quality and reliability in software engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of distributed engineers to design and implement Ubuntu integration for server-class hardware platforms.
- Engage with commercial partners to deliver an optimized Ubuntu experience.
- Develop team members through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
- Oversee commercial engagements and ensure timely delivery on project milestones.
- Commit to strict quality and reliability standards in engineering practices.
- Collaborate with other teams to align on product architecture and roadmaps.
- Facilitate technical delivery and influence team culture.
Requirements
- Proven track record in technical roles with Linux, preferably Ubuntu or Debian.
- High quality software engineering skills with in-depth knowledge of C/C++ and Python.
- Experience with Ubuntu kernel and userspace, deb/snap packaging, embedded Linux, QEMU/KVM, and/or OVS/OVN.
- Experience managing software engineers with a focus on planning, delivery, and quality.
- Effective collaboration skills across multiple internal teams.
