The Partner Engineering team at Canonical is dedicated to optimizing Ubuntu for the latest silicon technologies, collaborating closely with leading silicon companies. This role is designed for a fast-paced, problem-solving environment that is both challenging and exciting. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, articulate, and capable of delivering a wide range of solutions across server and data center technologies. As a Partner Engineering Manager, you will lead an engineering team that spans the full Linux server stack, from the kernel to AI workloads, ensuring that Ubuntu is optimized for the latest hardware advancements. You will be responsible for managing relationships with key technology partners, ensuring that project milestones are met in a timely manner. In this position, you will lead a team of strong engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering their growth. Your responsibilities will include conducting code reviews, providing architectural guidance, and maintaining a commitment to healthy engineering practices, documentation, quality, and performance optimization. As a manager, you will also be tasked with ensuring fair and clear management practices, which are essential for maintaining a high-performing team. You will have the opportunity to influence the team culture, facilitate technical delivery, and collaborate on strategy and execution. Your daily activities will involve leading a distributed team to design and implement optimal Ubuntu integrations for server-class hardware platforms and software stacks. You will engage with commercial partners to deliver a first-class Ubuntu experience, develop your team through coaching and mentoring, oversee commercial engagements, and ensure adherence to quality and reliability standards. Additionally, you will collaborate with other teams at Canonical to align on product architecture and roadmaps, while also managing global travel commitments of up to twice a year for two weeks each time.
