About the position

In support of the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) Integrated Technical Services (HITS) task order contract, Leidos is seeking a Storage System Administrator. This role is critical for the daily administration of a storage environment that supports a diverse set of applications utilizing Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) management software. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of general storage administration tasks, which include providing support for both storage software and hardware, configuring storage devices, and ensuring the integrity of daily backups. Additionally, the role involves monitoring storage devices, tuning storage performance, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. The Storage System Administrator will play a key role in supporting mass storage archive needs within an environment that consists of standalone systems, virtual machines, and large-scale High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster-based systems. This position requires a proactive approach to managing storage resources and ensuring optimal performance across all systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux and Unix operating systems, as well as experience with various storage technologies and backup solutions. The role demands excellent customer interaction skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks in a dynamic and demanding setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily administration of storage environment across diverse applications utilizing HSM management software.
  • Perform general storage administration tasks including software and hardware support.
  • Configure storage devices and support daily backups.
  • Monitor storage devices and tune storage performance.
  • Troubleshoot storage-related issues and provide solutions.
  • Support mass storage archive needs in standalone, virtual machine, and HPC cluster environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience (additional experience may be substituted for the degree).
  • Active security clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Ability to maintain DoD 8570 certification - Security + and OS cert, Linux+, RedHat, etc. (90 day waiver may be provided to obtain the OS certification).
  • General knowledge of Linux and Unix operating systems concepts.
  • Experience with HSM software such as SAMQFS and Versity Storage Manager.
  • Experience in enterprise backup and data protection technologies such as Veritas NetBackup.
  • Tape library and drive storage experience.
  • Experience working with Tape Backup or long-term Archive Software.
  • Excellent customer interaction skills including written and verbal communication.
  • Team-oriented individual capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic, demanding environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work in a dynamic work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Systems and/or storage administration experience.
  • Experience working with HPC cluster and storage architectures.
  • Knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) controls, STIG viewer, Radix, and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Prior experience in SAN Fabric Administration including zoning, LUN security, and HBA configuration and troubleshooting.
  • NAS (object) and SAN (block) storage experience.
  • Security implementations using multi-factor authentication, PKI, or Kerberos and Unix OS hardening to DoD STIG standards.
