About the position

The Linux System Administrator position at Associates Systems LLC is a critical role that involves monitoring and maintaining the health and security posture of systems that support mission-critical capabilities for the customer. The successful candidate will work closely with developers and system engineers on the Avalanche program, as well as engineers from other programs that provide capabilities hosted in the Avalanche-supported environment. This role requires a proactive approach to research issues, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions to system problems. The Avalanche program utilizes Agile methodology for managing work, which means the candidate should be comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. In this position, the Linux System Administrator will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of software and hardware, ensuring that systems are running optimally and securely. The role demands a strong understanding of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6 & 7) systems, including patching, performance tuning, networking, user management, and security. The candidate will also be expected to utilize BASH scripting to automate tasks and improve system efficiency. Additionally, experience with tools such as Jira, Ansible, and Red Hat IPA Server is essential for managing system configurations and deployments. The position also requires in-depth experience with deploying and administering systems in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Commercial Cloud Services (C2S). The candidate must be able to support occasional after-hours maintenance, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the role. Strong analytical and research skills are necessary, as the candidate will need to troubleshoot problems efficiently and interact effectively with external personnel on significant technical matters, often requiring coordination between organizations and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain system health and security posture.

Requirements

  • 6 years of experience in Linux System Administration.
  • Experience with installation and maintenance of software and hardware.
  • Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux server (RHEL 6 & 7) systems with minimal support.
  • Proficiency in patching, creating RPM packages, performance tuning, networking, user management, and security.
  • Experience with BASH scripting.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Ansible, and Red Hat IPA Server.
  • In-depth experience with AWS/Commercial Cloud Services (C2S).
  • Experience using Agile/Scrum development methodology.
