About the position

The System Administrator position at Schriever AFB involves managing and maintaining both virtual and physical servers/systems, providing technical support, and ensuring system efficiency in a fast-paced environment. The role requires an active Secret clearance and offers a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor system activity and implement upgrades.
  • Manage vulnerabilities and provide technical support to users.
  • Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers/systems.
  • Utilize developer documentation to configure server/system hardware and software.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and restore network, server, and client systems as outages occur.
  • Research technologies and leverage optimization techniques for system efficiency.
  • Perform physical inspections and analyze system/event logs for troubleshooting.
  • Provide timely updates to team leads, managers, and stakeholders on task status.
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members and customers.
  • Perform client support administrator duties as applicable.
  • Identify documentation errors and report them for correction.
  • Use REMEDY ticketing system to document problem and resolution actions.
  • Install new software releases and system upgrades, evaluate patches, and resolve software conflicts.
  • Perform application loading and system hardening, including STIG implementation.
  • Work evening shifts, typically from 1400 to 2000 hours.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma (or GED) with 12 years of general experience; Associate degree with 10 years of experience; Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience; Master's degree with 6 years of experience.
  • 7 years of experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows operating systems and applications.
  • 1 year of management or leadership role experience.
  • Administration experience on RHEL 7 and 8 using Command Line Interface.
  • Experience building, configuring, and deploying servers using VMware 7.0 or higher.
  • Experience using Ansible or Ansible Tower for software updates.
  • Current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ CE.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • US Citizenship.

  • Experience working with HBSS/ESS.
  • Experience working with ACAS.
  • Experience configuring and managing NetApp devices.
  • Experience building virtual switches and networks through vSphere.
  • Experience installing, patching, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux servers and workstations.
  • Experience with DISA tools for scanning and remediating vulnerabilities.
  • Experience resolving hardware and software conflicts and performing server maintenance.
  • DoD networking experience with classified data networks and knowledge of red/black concepts and IA compliance.
