About the position

The Linux System Administrator III position at Cognizant is responsible for the implementation and technical configuration of systems infrastructure, ensuring its viability and integrity. This role involves providing customer service, incident management, and ongoing support while working with complex infrastructure components. The administrator will have increased autonomy and will be accountable for maintaining operational documentation, performing system patching, and troubleshooting network/server issues.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for a set of infrastructure components.
• Performs system administration duties within the infrastructure department.
• Works with complex sets of infrastructure components and provides input on design elements.
• Participates in project implementation and maintains operational documentation.
• Performs account maintenance and system patching.
• Analyzes point threats and determines security solutions.
• Responds to escalated support requests (Tier 2/3).
• Responsible for creating root cause analysis (RCA).
• Conducts testing of infrastructure patches and updates prior to deployment.
• Troubleshoots network and/or server issues.
• Participates in project meetings/updates and develops estimates for own work.
• Provides backup and restore services and maintains relationships with product vendors.
• Performs routine maintenance to ensure compliance with standards and policies.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of experience in systems administration required.
• Extensive knowledge of business area and technology, considered a specialist in the field.
• Demonstrates project management and systems analysis skills.
• Advanced verbal/written communication skills.
