About the position

The Level 3 Linux System Administrator at Lockheed Martin is responsible for providing comprehensive support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems, particularly focusing on Linux environments. This role involves managing daily operations, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the security and reliability of critical infrastructure. The position requires a strong background in cybersecurity and system administration, with a focus on supporting various IT systems and providing assistance to users.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems.
  • Assist users in accessing and using IT systems.
  • Support day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices.
  • Communicate status updates to agency management and internal customers.
  • Optimize Linux system operations and resource utilization, performing capacity analysis and planning.
  • Troubleshoot IT systems and provide detailed analysis for escalated tickets.
  • Support the dispatch system and hardware problem resolution process.
  • Configure and manage Linux operating systems and network components.
  • Support the design of systems and mission architecture.

Requirements

  • Current DOD Top Secret SCI with Polygraph required.
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience as a System Administrator in similar programs and contracts.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university required, or five (5) years of additional experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Strong Linux experience required.
  • Strong Windows experience required.
  • Must be DoD 8570.01-M certified for Linux administration.
  • Familiarity with STE/STN tools is preferred.
  • Experience in Networking, OS: RHEL/CentOS, Automations (Ansible), and Virtualization (VMWare, KVM) is required.
