About the position

AS&T is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support their engineering organization. The role involves managing Linux-based systems, providing support to users, and improving system performance. Candidates should have experience with configuration management, build automation, and release engineering, along with the ability to solve end-user computer system problems.

Responsibilities

• Support Linux-based users on a LAN.
• Solve end-user computer system problems and improve performance on Linux RedHat 5 & 6 and RedHawk 5 & 6.
• Install and evaluate COTS software products and tools.
• Work independently in a lab environment.
• Utilize Agile processes and contribute to Core Digital Transformation.

Requirements

• Linux Systems Administration skills with knowledge of third-party products.
• Ability to work independently in a lab environment.
• Experience with Linux RedHat 5 & 6 and RedHawk 5 & 6.
• Experience in installing and evaluating COTS software products.
• Ability to obtain Security+ certification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the SECRET level.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in both Unix and Microsoft Windows administration.
• Experience with computer networking and communications systems.
• Experience with virtualization.
• Creation of bash and perl scripts for environment setup in ClearCase.
• Knowledge of Rational ClearCase tools for software configuration management.
