About the position

The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining Linux operating systems within a government contracting environment. This role requires an active secret clearance and involves providing guidance on information systems, monitoring network traffic, and addressing hardware and software issues. The position is a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Aberdeen, MD, and is aimed at candidates who can quickly adapt to the needs of the client.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance for directing and monitoring information systems.
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems.
• Analyze network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions.
• Monitor and respond to hardware, software, and network problems.
• Manage the purchase, testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 2+ years of relevant technical experience.
• Security+ certification required.
• Ability to obtain CCNA within 6 months of starting.
• Strong experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Minimum Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain Top Secret.
