About the position

We are seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD. This position is critical to supporting a government program that focuses on providing subject matter expertise and technical assistance in the development and maintenance of prototype and niche analytics tools. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that these prototypes are not only built but also maintained and documented effectively. This role requires a strong understanding of network infrastructure and the ability to work collaboratively within an engineering team of approximately 10 personnel, each with specific responsibilities. The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining customer networks, ensuring that all systems are operational and secure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects that have a significant impact on government operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain customer networks including infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with an engineering team of approximately 10 personnel, each with specific tasking.
  • Install and maintain network or telecommunications equipment.
  • Utilize specialized test equipment and network analysis tools such as network management software and data analyzers.
  • Conduct patching and scanning for security vulnerabilities.
  • Manage ATO renewals and POAMs.
  • Set up machines for specific uses and tear them down when complete.

Requirements

  • TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field plus 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.
  • High School diploma/GED plus 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience must be in the installation or maintenance of network or telecommunications equipment and/or using specialized test equipment and network analysis tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Linux system administration experience.
  • Experience with patching and scanning for security vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with ATO renewals and POAMs.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is preferred.
  • A+ certification is preferred.
