About the position

The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for the administration of the Enterprise Cross Domain Service (ECDS) system, ensuring optimal performance and security. This role requires a strong background in Linux systems, along with experience in various technologies such as the Elk Stack and Splunk. The position demands excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information to non-technical staff and involves collaboration with multiple teams to manage system integration activities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for systems administration of the Enterprise Cross Domain Service (ECDS) system.
  • Experience with project long-range requirements for database administration and design.
  • Recommend system improvements, optimizations, development, and/or maintenance efforts.
  • Translate requirements and data into usable documents by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros.
  • Mitigate risks, control costs and schedule variance, and effectively manage large scale, integrated projects.
  • Establish and follow a formal procedure for coordinating system integration activities among multiple teams, ensuring complete coverage of all interfaces.
  • Capture all interface designs in a common interface control format, and store interface data in a commonly accessible repository.
  • Analyze users' requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
  • Analyze system requirements and lead design and development activities.
  • Guide users in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI CI Polygraph clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • DoD 8570 Level II - Security+CE certification.
  • 7+ years' experience with Linux, Elk Stack, and Splunk.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical staff.
  • Experience with Red Hat, Apache Storm, Nimbus, Zookeeper, NiFi, Salt Stack, vCenter, Purifile, Cylance, Glasswall, McAfee, Clam AV, Cyber Soft vFind, and Splunk.
