About the position

The Linux System Administrator Watch Officer is responsible for supporting 24x7x365 classified operations for the Defense Information Security Agency (DISA) in Pensacola, Florida. This role involves designing, installing, configuring, securing, troubleshooting, and maintaining operating systems for mission-critical servers that support classified programs for the Department of Defense (DoD).

Responsibilities

• Manage Enterprise Red Hat Linux computing infrastructure.
• Installation and maintenance of Enterprise Linux servers and network systems, including server/storage/network devices, in accordance with DoD policies and procedures.
• Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.
• Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems.
• Work with a team of Service Desk and Systems Administrators.
• Utilize ITSM ticketing system for trouble management documentation.
• Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to DoD agencies and internal customers.
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
• Research and recommend/assist in improving system performance.
• Communicate effectively with remote customers.

Requirements

• Requires one of the following: an Associate's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access.
• A DoD 8570 IAT Level II approved certification is required.
• Experience implementing and maintaining Linux/Red Hat systems/networks and related applications.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with big data and data formats such as CSV, CEF, JSON, and XML, preferred.
• Experience with Splunk, preferred.
