About the position

The Linux System Administrator role at IMG involves supporting the enterprise RedHat Linux environment for a U.S. government customer. The position focuses on ensuring system stability, security, and performance while adhering to government risk management frameworks. The administrator will perform system administration tasks, manage updates and security patches, troubleshoot issues, and develop backup and disaster recovery strategies. Collaboration with IT teams is essential to integrate and support various applications and services, ensuring compliance with security protocols and comprehensive documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and optimize RedHat Linux systems, OpenShift, VMWare, and Cloudera platforms.
  • Implement and enforce security measures to meet NIST 800-53 standards.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular maintenance.
  • Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure system integrity.
  • Develop and enforce backup and disaster recovery plans.
  • Provide support for system configurations, user management, and access control.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and updates.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate and manage applications and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years' experience with RedHat Linux, VMware, and OpenShift.
  • At least two years of experience supporting development of information system security authorization packages in accordance with Risk Management Framework (NIST 800-37, 800-53, 800-53a).
  • Strong understanding of system security principles and experience with NIST 800-53 compliance.
  • Proficient in system performance tuning, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 3 years' experience with Cloudera Data Platforms (CDP).
  • At least 1 year experience with Denodo data virtualization.
  • At least 1 year experience with Neo4j development and administration or other graph database technologies.
  • At least 1 year experience with LakeFS, RedHat OpenShift AI or other data versioning and MLOps tools.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure security, endpoint protection, vulnerability management tools.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, VCP, CCA) are a plus.
