About the position

Parsons is seeking a highly skilled Lead Linux Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will lead the system administration for the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) computers that were installed in FY20. You will play a crucial role in supporting the design of the A2I2 building for systems that are set to be delivered in 2024, as well as future platforms. Your expertise will be essential in providing advice for persistent services that support a diverse range of high-performance computing (HPC) software stacks, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), utilizing tools such as Kubeflow. As a Lead Linux Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for advising on architectural trade-offs involving cutting-edge technologies such as NVidia Grace/Hopper, ARM architectures, and new file systems. You will also take on the responsibility of training new system administrators, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. Your role will involve identifying open-source software tools and stacks that are tailored to customer-specific and production platforms, as well as developing and implementing software instrumentation to measure and visualize the performance of various systems, sub-systems, and user jobs. In addition, you will serve as a subject matter expert for the HPC program system administration team, contributing to research, development, and production HPC systems. This position is integral to our Federal Solutions team, which delivers vital resources to our US government customers, ensuring the success of missions globally. Responsibilities

  • Lead the system administration for ARL computers installed in FY20.
  • Support design of Army Research Laboratory A2I2 building for systems being delivered in 2024 and future platforms.
  • Provide advice for persistent services to support diverse high performance computing (HPC) software stacks, especially AI/ML, for example, using Kubeflow.
  • Advise in architectural tradeoffs including NVidia Grace/Hopper, ARM, and new file systems.
  • Train new system administrators.
  • Identify open source software tools and stacks for customer-specific and production platforms.
  • Develop and implement software instrumentation to measure and visualize the performance of various systems, sub-systems, and user jobs.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to HPC program system administration team for research, development, and production HPC system.

Requirements

  • Extensive background in diverse Linux operating systems and high performance computing.
  • Extensive background in Linux tools, performance tuning, instrumentation.
  • Extensive background in Linux container architectures.
  • Experience with open-source software tools, software stacks, and standards.
  • Ability to manage a team of system administrators across a wide range of platforms and requirements.
