About the position

FGS, LLC is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) at the Suitland Federal Center in Suitland, MD. This role involves maintaining the operational status and security posture of production and development systems, providing Tier 3 support, and developing custom scripts to enhance system functionality. The position requires a strong background in Linux and Windows systems administration, with a focus on security and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain operational status and IA posture of Production systems
  • Maintain operational status and IA posture of Development systems
  • Provide Tier 3 support to on-site engineers
  • Develop custom Linux and Windows scripts as necessary to improve functionality
  • Provide product architecture and configuration recommendations
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Develop and execute security test plans and pre-deployment test plans
  • Document and submit Weekly Activity Reports to the site lead
  • Responsible for server baseline build and application deployment
  • Installation and configuration of various Linux distributions, databases, and web servers
  • Create, deploy and manage virtual machines, templates, clones, and snapshots using virtualization software
  • Attend ad-hoc and scheduled Integrated Product Team meetings
  • Apply Windows and Linux patches, updates, and configuration changes as determined by ISSM/ISSO
  • Harden servers, switches and routers according to the latest Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Develop system design documents, requirements specifications, and drawings

Requirements

  • Current DoD Cyber Security Workforce Certification of IAT Level II or better
  • Heavily experienced with Linux GUI, command line, Iptables, OCSP and CAC authentication
  • Experienced with management of Virtual Server hosts and images
  • Familiar with new DoD RMF Process and older DIACAP process
  • Familiar with configuration and operation of PKI for user and web authentication

Nice-to-haves

  • Experienced in the Intelligence Community or Military environment preferred
  • Degree in related field, current Cisco, Linux and/or Windows certifications preferred
