Holtec Decommissioning International (HDI) is currently seeking a Linux System Administrator to join the Palisades Nuclear Plant team in Covert, MI. Palisades Nuclear Power Plant may soon become the first nuclear power plant in the United States to restart after previously entering the early stages of decommissioning. The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of Linux and Windows servers, configuration, and support of the J2EE based app servers. This role involves maintaining system performance, ensuring high availability, and managing disaster recovery procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage Tomcat, Jboss and IIS on a combination of Windows Server and Red Hat Linux platforms.
  • Perform regular system monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
  • Administer Asset Suite 9.6.
  • Knowledge of Oracle database associated availability monitoring, including RMAN backups and data recovery.
  • Implement high availability strategies using VMware Esx and Red Hat Linux.
  • Installation and deployment of Linux in an enterprise production environment.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and ensure the timely application of patches and updates for OS and app servers.
  • Perform disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff to ensure network segmentation and security measures are in place.
  • Strong awareness of Linux security best practices.
  • Comfortable with Linux CLI and automation using bash, python or Perl.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • US Citizen.
  • 5+ years of experience in system administration, with specific experience in managing enterprise-level applications.
  • Strong experience with Red Hat Linux, and VMware.
  • Knowledge of iSCSI SAN connectivity.
  • Experience with Linux Multipath, LVM, XFS and udev rules.
  • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Experience working with F5 loadbalancers.
  • Experience with managing and configuring middleware components.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
