About the position

The Linux System Administrator at Tyler Technologies Inc. is an advanced-level position focused on managing systems, servers, databases, networking, and security. This role requires independent operation and the ability to make decisions within established guidelines, while also adapting to complex problems. The administrator will be responsible for provisioning, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Linux and Windows operating systems, virtualization, and modern DevOps tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 & 2 Linux and Windows server technical support and troubleshooting for teams across the organization.
  • Work with other technical staff and information technology teams in architecting technical solutions as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining and documenting system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Troubleshoot system hardware, software, networks, and operating and system management systems.
  • Design and run system load/stress testing; escalate application problems to vendor.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
  • Explore opportunities to add value to job and environment.
  • Work all assigned support tickets to ensure resolution within the target timeframes.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and maintain primarily Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8/9 servers.
  • Maintain technical documentation.
  • Implement system changes to meet security compliance and business requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance monitoring of all systems, and perform on-call and after hours support.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Linux operating systems, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8/9.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2019 and above.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software issues.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies and modern DevOps tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with system load/stress testing tools.
  • Knowledge of security compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools.
