About the position

Leidos is seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to support the Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The role involves standard Linux system administration duties, ensuring the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including Linux-based application servers, virtual machines, and GP/GPU cluster systems. The administrator will work closely with network administrators and participate in the installation and maintenance of high-performance computing (HPC) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard Linux System Administration duties to maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems.
  • Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, and tune system performance.
  • Install system-wide software and allocate mass storage space.
  • Develop and monitor policies and standards for resource allocation related to computing resources.
  • Participate in the installation, integration, acceptance testing, and ongoing maintenance of HPC systems and software environment.
  • Assist with forecasting resource limitations and provide recommendations for increasing resource efficiency through proper scheduling and load balancing.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Linux and Unix operating systems concepts and systems administration experience.
  • Ability to develop and maintain documentation on system administration procedures for routine and complex tasks.
  • Ability to create and maintain Information Assurance (IA) compliance documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with compiling, installing, and porting software.
  • Ability to understand application scaling issues related to problem resolution and algorithm choice.
  • Experience with Storage Architectures: SAN, SAS, FC, SATA, Bandwidth, Performance.
  • Ability to manage development of application benchmarks and analyze results for optimal configurations.
  • Familiarity with multi-factor authentication platforms and solutions, and Identity Management such as OpenID, LDAP, and Kerberos.
  • Experience with security implementations using multi-factor authentication, PKI, or Kerberos and Unix OS hardening to DoD STIG standards.
  • Experience programming or troubleshooting Python code.
  • Experience supporting Apache Web Server.
  • Experience with Zabbix, Red Hat Satellite, or Red Hat Identity Manager.
  • Experience with BIND DNS, Ansible, and Gitlab.
