About the position

Maxar Technologies is seeking a solutions-oriented Linux System Administrator to support a user base focused on national security. This role involves working in an agile environment, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement solutions that meet customer needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and the ability to communicate effectively with users and technologists, contributing to the advancement of DevSecOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor systems operations and collaborate with software systems engineering or applications programming personnel to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Improve system operations and functionality, including monitoring and optimization of the platform.
  • Track and remediate IAVM vulnerabilities, applying system patches and rollbacks as necessary.
  • Implement STIG guidance and support ATO sustainment efforts.
  • Work with software and system engineers to apply automated testing and documentation processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network, automation pipelines, and infrastructure issues.
  • Integrate static code analysis and other security mechanisms into the pipeline.
  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, articulating technical concepts and ideas.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of technical experience in maintaining automated system platforms for the intelligence community, geospatial context, and/or big data analytics.
  • CICD development experience with Jenkins, GitLab, Ansible, Kubernetes, Openshift, and/or Docker.
  • Experience with open source and custom application deployments and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated senior level experience with LINUX and database system administration and Python scripting.
  • Ability to work effectively with a geographically distributed ops & development team.
  • Strong communication skills with customers and team members in written and oral forums.
  • Degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in a technical field.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

  • An adaptable and solution-centric mindset.
  • Experience supporting software in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with common industry software tools, concepts, and DevSecOps.
  • Familiarity with concepts such as Data visualization, Data management, Data integration, User Interface, and Databases.
  • Strong Linux skills and familiarity with hybrid cloud/on-prem architecture, AWS, C2S, OpenStack, etc.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment, with factory reach-back support.
  • CompTIA Security+ or comparable certification for privileged user access.
  • Experience as a military/intelligence analyst, supporting the military/IC, or knowledge of some IC PED systems.
