The Linux System Administrator position is a hybrid role based in Minnesota, requiring three days in the office and two days remote. This contract position is set to last until December 31, 2024. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in installing, supporting, and configuring Redhat Linux operating systems and the underlying hardware. A strong background in infrastructure as code (IAC) is essential, with experience using tools such as HashiCorp Terraform and AWS CloudFormation. The role demands a solid understanding of Linux systems performance tuning, troubleshooting, and backup/recovery processes. Candidates should also have a robust knowledge of virtualization systems, including VMware, ESXI, vSphere client, vMotion, and KVM. Experience in configuring and troubleshooting OS Multipathing and HBA to SAN connected storage is crucial. The position requires strong experience with high availability (HA) and clustering solutions, such as Oracle RAC clusters, Veritas clusters, Redhat HA clusters, and HADR clusters. Additionally, the ability to automate tasks using Shell scripting and Python is necessary. The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for configuration management using tools like Ansible, Salt stack, Puppet, Chef, and Jenkins. Familiarity with source control tools such as GitLab, GitHub, and Bitbucket is also required. Strong customer service and communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for building relationships at all levels within the organization. Proven project management skills, strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, and a detail-oriented approach are key attributes for success in this role. The candidate will be responsible for provisioning and troubleshooting Linux-based systems, performing all hardware and software installations and configurations, and conducting system capacity planning with regular reporting.
