About the position

The Sr. Linux Administrator at Leidos will support the Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) by performing standard Linux system administration duties. This role involves maintaining the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including Linux-based application servers, virtual machines, and GP/GPU cluster systems. The administrator will coordinate with network administrators and participate in the installation and maintenance of high-performance computing (HPC) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard Linux System Administration duties to maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems.
  • Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, and tune system performance.
  • Install system-wide software and allocate mass storage space.
  • Develop and monitor policies and standards for computing resource allocation.
  • Participate in the installation, integration, acceptance testing, and ongoing maintenance of HPC systems and software environment.
  • Assist with forecasting resource limitations and provide recommendations for resource efficiency through scheduling and load balancing.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Linux and Unix operating systems concepts.
  • Experience in systems administration with the ability to develop and maintain documentation on system administration procedures.
  • Ability to create and maintain Information Assurance (IA) compliance documentation.
  • Experience with compiling, installing, and porting software.
  • Understanding of application scaling issues related to problem resolution and algorithm choice.
  • Experience with Storage Architectures: SAN, SAS, FC, SATA, Bandwidth, Performance.
  • Ability to manage application benchmarks and analyze results for optimal configurations.
  • Familiarity with multi-factor authentication platforms and solutions, and Identity Management such as OpenID, LDAP, and Kerberos.
  • Experience with security implementations using multi-factor authentication, PKI, or Kerberos and Unix OS hardening to DoD STIG standards.
  • Experience programming or troubleshooting Python code.
  • Experience with supporting Apache Web Server, Zabbix, Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Identity Manager, BIND DNS, Ansible, and Gitlab.

  • Experience with multi-factor authentication platforms and solutions.
  • Experience with security implementations using PKI or Kerberos.
  • Experience with programming or troubleshooting Python code.
