About the position

The Linux Engineer position involves the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software, focusing on stability, security, and performance improvements across Linux and Windows environments. The role requires a detail-oriented individual committed to providing exceptional service, with responsibilities spanning from systems administration to troubleshooting and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

  • Linux systems engineering and administration, supporting project and operational needs.
  • Install and configure Linux servers and related applications.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation and standards.
  • Provide Tier III support and troubleshoot Linux and Windows server issues.
  • Virtual Center administration and VMware troubleshooting.
  • Apply OS patches, upgrades, and configure system services as required.
  • Perform system performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization.
  • Serve as backup for Windows and Virtualization Engineers as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Linux Systems Administration experience, including log analysis and user/group management.
  • 3+ years of Windows Systems Administration & Active Directory experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with MS Windows Servers (versions 2008, 2012, and 2016).
  • 3+ years of troubleshooting experience in server failure and OS tuning.
  • 3+ years of BASH Scripting experience.
  • 3+ years of Cron Jobs Management experience.
  • 3+ years of Apache Web Server Configuration experience (SSL, reverse proxy, load balancing).
  • 3+ years of professional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • 24x7 availability for emergency situations.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of VMware (vSphere, cluster administration) experience.
  • Experience with file systems such as Samba, CIFS, NFS.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios.
  • Experience with Systemd Services setup and configuration.
  • Experience with Virtual Desktop (VMware Horizon View).
  • Experience with application servers and middleware (JBoss, Wildfly, IBM MQseries).
  • Database experience with Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB.
  • Networking knowledge (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SMTP, TCP/IP).
  • Storage experience (SAN, VMFS, iSCSI, NFS).
