About the position

The Linux System Administrator role at Raytheon involves managing and maintaining Linux systems to support the company's mission of national defense. Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain Linux systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Implement security hardening measures to protect systems from vulnerabilities.
  • Support infrastructure backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with teams to gather requirements and design appropriate solutions for system deployment.
  • Automate tasks through scripting to improve efficiency and reliability of system operations.
  • Provide support for HP server hardware and storage systems, including diagnosis and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • Experience with Linux architecture, deployment, administration, and networking.
  • Proficiency in performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting of Linux systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Integrated AD authentication (Kerberos, LDAP, Centrify).
  • Familiarity with SMTP, DHCP, DNS, NIS, LDAP, CIFS, NFS, Samba, and *NIX system security.
  • Experience with infrastructure backup and disaster recovery products like Symantec NetBackup.
  • Knowledge of VMware ESXi and vCenter technologies.
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as BASH scripting and Ansible.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or other relevant industry certifications.
