About the position

The Linux System Administrator at Parsons will support multiple operating locations, including Colorado Springs and other CONUS locations. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux IT systems, establishing cybersecurity networking rules, and troubleshooting technical issues. The position is critical in ensuring the efficiency and security of the organization's IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain Linux Information Technology (IT) systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
  • Establish networking rules for cybersecurity.
  • Troubleshoot Linux system errors and other technical issues.
  • Provide tier 2 and 3 technical support for all Linux platforms.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks.
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency.
  • Build operational Operations and Maintenance (O&M) checklists.
  • Contribute to planning, assessment, risk analysis, and certification activities for system operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or relevant field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a related field.
  • Top Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for Secret Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Advanced technical competency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, and Red Hat Virtualization.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with VMware and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience maintaining multiple DoD baseline environments across classification levels.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019, Active Directory, SQL Server 2012, and Windows 10/11.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience with Cloud Computing, AWS, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with COMSEC requirements and procedures.
  • Experience with full DevOps toolchain (Jira, Confluence, SCM, Jenkins).
