About the position

The Linux System Architect will leverage expertise in the Linux Operating System and Virtualization Technologies to design, implement, and maintain a secure environment for software development teams that are geographically dispersed. This role involves managing both physical and virtualized Linux systems, ensuring compliance with security standards, and collaborating with development labs to provide critical resources.

Responsibilities

  • Administrate and maintain both physical and virtualized Linux systems.
  • Design, implement, administrate, and maintain an on-premise VMWare 7 cluster and Azure Government hosting environment.
  • Patch and update the VMWare environment and maintain the cluster networking and storage infrastructure.
  • Create standard images for Red Hat Enterprise and Ubuntu LTS Linux or utilize existing images in a VMWare or Azure Government virtual environment.
  • Promote hardware standards for desktops and laptops to run the aforementioned distributions.
  • Design and implement a Linux patch management system using Apt, Yum, Red Hat Satellite, and Landscape.
  • Configure Linux systems to receive patches from designated repositories.
  • Implement and use Ansible, Tower, and/or AWX for configuration management and create playbooks for CMMC level 3 security compliance.
  • Configure Linux systems to use Active Directory and DUO Multifactor Authentication.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with software development labs to provide mission-critical resources and assist with security compliance efforts.
  • Develop and maintain formal documentation and policies related to the technologies used.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
  • Must have an Active Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with relevant technologies and systems.
  • Familiarity with VMWare 6.x and/or 7 and Azure Virtual Hosting Environments.
  • Ability to install, configure, administer, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x/8.x and Ubuntu LTS 16.04/18.04/20.04.
  • Familiarity with NIST, STIG, and/or CMMC compliance levels and standards.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Multifactor (DUO) Authentication Schemes.
