About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator at GovCIO will support a newly awarded customer contract by ensuring the smooth operation of computer systems, including both hardware and software components. This fully remote position requires the administrator to maintain system integrity, upgrade systems, and implement changes to procedures while collaborating with various technical teams to resolve issues and enhance system performance.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain smooth operation of computer systems in networked or stand-alone configurations.
• Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including hardware and software.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement network/system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Provide regular monitoring and analysis for in-house systems planning.
• Prepare and ensure appropriate documentation exists, including operational instructions.
• Write or modify basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate administration tasks.
• Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 5 - 8 years of experience or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience with Linux systems administration.
• Active HUD Public Trust clearance required.
