About the position

The Junior Linux Systems Administrator at Leidos is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, ensuring their uptime, performance, resources, and security meet user needs. This role supports a federal law enforcement agency and may involve various specializations such as database administration, network administration, security administration, web administration, and system programming, all performed under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the uptime, performance, resources, and security of computer systems.
• Maintain database systems and ensure data integrity and system performance.
• Manage network infrastructure including switches and routers, diagnosing related issues.
• Administer security devices such as firewalls and consult on security measures.
• Maintain web server services for internal or external access to websites.
• Manage software change management processes.
• Create, modify, and test code, forms, and scripts for computer applications.
• Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of computer systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 2-4 years of prior relevant experience, or a Master's degree with less than 2 years of experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently to develop creative solutions.
• Strong communication skills.
• US Citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Linux operating systems.
• Familiarity with software development tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
• Knowledge of source control tools like GIT.
• DOD Secret Clearance.
