About the position

As a Senior Linux Systems Administrator at SoundWay Consulting, you will support an Intelligence Community customer by ensuring high availability of systems, troubleshooting issues, and managing customer interactions. Your role involves daily system monitoring, patching, and documentation, with a focus on security and system hardening. You will collaborate with various stakeholders and may need to work off-hours for system maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure systems are fully operational at high availability.
• Rapidly troubleshoot and resolve systems issues.
• Handle tickets and calls from the customer.
• Collaborate with government customers and contractors.
• Deploy software patches monthly during off-hours.
• Create and revise documentation including SOPs and security procedures.
• Monitor system performance and recommend actions for improvement.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in systems administration, with at least 3 years in Linux administration.
• Strong experience with Unix, Linux, and CentOS operating systems.
• Comfortable administering systems from the command line.
• Experience with AWS Cloud Services including EC2, IAM, and CloudFormation.
• Experience with VMWare.
• Ability to work in a team environment and anticipate problems.

Nice-to-haves

• Exhibit leadership skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 2016 or higher.
• Familiarity with Oracle SQL Server and Tomcat 8.5 or higher.
• Experience maintaining applications built on SQL Server in an Oracle environment.
• Experience writing scripts for system monitoring and data mining.
• Experience writing/editing PowerShell scripts and SQL queries.
