About the position

The Linux Systems Administrator, Level 4 position at Lockheed Martin involves managing and administering heterogeneous networks, including Windows and Linux systems, within classified environments. The role requires a high level of expertise in IT systems administration and engineering, focusing on cyber compliance, system integrity, and application support. The successful candidate will lead technical execution efforts and collaborate with stakeholders to implement security designs and manage hardware effectively.

Responsibilities

  • System administration of heterogeneous networks including Windows and Linux distributions.
  • Manage operating system cyber compliance, upgrades, and patching.
  • Perform guidance and management for hardware, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Ensure the integrity and availability of applications and coordinate new application installations and upgrades.
  • Implement effective backup/recovery, resource accounting, and auditing procedures.
  • Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on varied IT hardware (PCs, printers, laptops, etc.).
  • Gather system security design requirements with stakeholders and develop architecture.
  • Implement security designs in hardware, software, data, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Ability to maintain a security clearance and customers' acceptance
  • Must possess or be able to obtain within 6 months a valid IAT Level II or III DoD Approved 8140 certification such as Security+
  • Knowledge and experience with workstation administration of Microsoft Windows in an Active Directory environment
  • Significant knowledge and experience with Linux distributions, preferably RedHat or CentOS
  • Demonstrated experience effectively performing in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience developing effective stakeholder and partner relationships
  • Ability to work through technical, project, operational, and resource challenges
  • Proven business acumen to manage multiple assignments and projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance
  • Prefer Security+, CISSP, or other IAT Level II/III security certification
  • Experience building, operating, and maintaining secure operating system configurations
  • Experience standing up, configuring, and maintaining Active Directory domains
  • Experience with hypervisors and in virtual environments (VMWare, KVM, Hyper-V)
  • Scripting ability to support system administration activities (Ansible, Python, BASH, etc.)
  • Experience managing McAfee anti-virus updates on Windows and Linux/Unix
  • Technical documentation creation and management
  • Experience developing and maintaining Windows or Linux baselines
  • Knowledge of implementing technical requirements for NISPOM Chapter-8, JAFAN, JSIG, DoD RMF.
