About the position

The Senior Linux Systems Administrator will support an Intelligence Community customer by ensuring high availability of systems, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and managing customer interactions. The role involves daily system monitoring, monthly patching, and collaboration with various stakeholders to maintain system security and performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Linux administration and familiarity with cloud services, particularly AWS.

Responsibilities

• Ensure systems are fully operational at high availability.
• Rapidly troubleshoot and resolve systems issues.
• Handle tickets and calls from the customer.
• Collaborate with government customers and contractor leads.
• Deploy software patches on a monthly basis during off-hours.
• Create or revise documentation including SOPs, STPs, SIPs, SAGs, SUMs, and ICDs.
• Monitor system performance and recommend appropriate actions.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in systems administration, with at least 3 years in Linux administration.
• Strong experience with Unix, Linux, and CentOS operating systems, comfortable with command line administration.
• Experience with AWS Cloud Services including EC2, IAM, CloudWatch, and Terraform.
• Experience with VMWare.
• Ability to work in a team environment and anticipate problems.

Nice-to-haves

• Exhibit leadership skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 2016 or higher.
• Familiarity with Oracle SQL Server.
• Familiarity with Tomcat 8.5 or higher.
• Familiarity with JAVA Open JDK/JRE 11+.
• Experience writing scripts to monitor system services and data mine logs.
• Experience writing/editing PowerShell scripts and SQL/PLSQL queries.
