As a Linux Systems Administrator, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on a Linux Systems Administrator to oversee system administration and support requirements for the Military Sealift Command (MSC) fleet in Pensacola, FL. In this role, you will perform system synchronization of the local development VMs, assist with the delivery, patching, and maintenance of test and operational RHEL systems. You will learn and implement new tools as they become relevant in the industry, create and execute integration and system tests, and document test procedures. Troubleshooting software system issues will be a key part of your responsibilities, and you will work as an effective team member across multiple disciplines, including systems, networking, configuration management, and test engineering. This position requires you to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and sometimes pressured environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system synchronization of the local development VMs.
  • Assist with the delivery, patching, and maintenance of test and operational RHEL systems.
  • Learn and implement new tools as they become relevant in the industry.
  • Create and execute integration and system tests and document test procedures.
  • Troubleshoot software system issues.
  • Work as an effective team member across multiple disciplines (systems, networking, configuration management, & test engineering).
  • Work in a dynamic, fast-paced, & sometimes pressured environment.

Requirements

  • Security Clearance Level: Secret clearance
  • 5+ years of required experience
  • IAT Level II Certification
  • Obtain a Linux Operating System certification (Linux+, etc.) within 6 months from hire date
  • BA/BS Degree or experience in lieu of degree
  • Proficiency working in a Red Hat Linux Server environment
  • Knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards for Linux system administration and accreditation
  • Experience applying DoD STIG checklists to Linux systems and ensuring compliance with DoD security mandates
  • Experience writing scripts (examples: shell scripting, PERL, Python, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of networking technology, TCP/IP, and common internet application protocols
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with log analysis tools, such as Graylog
  • Experience with IT infrastructure management tools, such as RedHat Satellite
  • Experience with system automation tools, such as Ansible
  • Experience with Apache HTTP Server
  • Experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN)
  • Experience with databases (examples: Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, etc.)
  • Experience administering software configuration management tools (examples: GIT, CVS, SVN, etc.)
  • Experience with VMWare ESXi.
