About the position

The Senior Linux Systems Administrator at Leidos is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, particularly for a federal law enforcement agency. This role involves ensuring system uptime, performance, resources, and security, while also potentially focusing on areas such as database administration, network administration, security administration, web administration, and software change management. The position requires a comprehensive knowledge of key tasks and the ability to lead major technology assignments, functioning as a technical expert across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the uptime, performance, resources, and security of computer systems.
• Maintain database systems and ensure data integrity and system performance.
• Manage network infrastructure, including switches and routers, and diagnose related issues.
• Administer security devices such as firewalls and consult on security measures.
• Maintain web server services and manage multiple sites, including security administration.
• Perform software change management and system programming tasks.
• Conduct routine maintenance and upkeep of computer systems.
• Plan and lead major technology assignments and evaluate performance results.
• Function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments and may supervise others.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently to develop creative solutions.
• Strong communication skills.
• US Citizenship.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Linux operating systems.
• Familiarity with software development tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
• Knowledge of source control tools like GIT.
• Possession of a DOD Secret Clearance.
