About the position

GovCIO is currently seeking a Linux Systems Administrator (SME) for our Courts proposal, located in San Antonio, TX. This role is pivotal in managing server operations, which includes overseeing hardware, operating systems, and utilities on the server. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in one or more operating systems, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Windows, and will be responsible for a variety of support functions including planning, deploying, maintaining, and supporting servers, database systems, backup systems, and the application stack. In this position, you will assist with restorations, application installations, testing, and provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support while troubleshooting issues. You will also be responsible for migrations, performance tuning, analysis, and support of infrastructure and internal hardware. Configuration management and system monitoring will be key components of your responsibilities, as well as the centralization of courts and replication, provisioning virtual servers, and managing all related Virtual Machines (VMs). Your role will also involve monitoring databases and supporting the infrastructure environment, analyzing and fixing performance issues related to networking and operating systems, and providing application upgrades. You will be responsible for the configuration management, monitoring, and maintenance of all hosted servers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for server operations inclusive of hardware, operating system (OS), and utilities on the server.
  • Support functions such as planning, deploying, maintaining, and supporting servers like Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Windows, database systems, and backup systems.
  • Assist with restorations, application installation, testing, Tier 2 and Tier 3 support, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Provide migrations, performance tuning, analysis, and support of infrastructure and internal hardware.
  • Provide configuration management and system monitoring.
  • Responsible for centralization of courts and replication, provisioning virtual servers, and service management of all related Virtual Machines (VMs).
  • Monitor databases and support the infrastructure environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • Extensive knowledge in specialized functions related to Linux System Administration.
  • Comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job and its application.
  • Ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity.
  • Work performed without discernible direction, exercising considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
  • Experience in Linux System Administration Skills (Red Hat).
  • VMware Virtualization Experience - design, installation, and administration; Database (Informix).
  • Experience developing project management standards and ensuring procedures are followed.
  • Experience preparing formal written technical content for project development, implementation, and management.
  • Experience overseeing, coordinating, and monitoring IT systems development and testing efforts.

  • Ability to acquire and maintain Public Trust clearance.
