About the position

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Lockheed Martin's Cyber & Intelligence team as a Linux Systems Administrator Staff. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing IT systems, with a particular emphasis on Linux environments. Your role will involve a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure, which is critical to our mission success. In this position, you will provide support for implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining IT systems. You will manage IT system infrastructure and associated processes, handling the daily configuration and operation of IT systems. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing day-to-day operations, monitoring and resolving issues for client/server, storage, network devices, and mobile devices. Ensuring the smooth functioning and availability of IT systems through proactive monitoring and issue resolution will be a key part of your job. You will deliver Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, identifying, diagnosing, and resolving problems. This includes assisting in the escalation and communication of system status to agency management and internal customers. You will stay involved in resolving hardware issues, particularly through the dispatch system, and will be responsible for configuring and managing Linux operating systems. This includes installing and loading operating system software, ensuring systems are up-to-date and secure, troubleshooting issues, maintaining the integrity of network components, and implementing enhancements to improve reliability and performance. Additionally, you will optimize system operations and resource utilization, conducting system capacity analysis and planning to ensure systems meet current and future demands. Providing support to users in accessing and using IT systems, offering in-depth troubleshooting and problem resolution for escalated issues, and delivering detailed analysis and feedback to management and internal customers will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, five (5) years of additional Systems Administrator experience may be substituted.
  • 10 years of experience as a Systems Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Experience with Linux system administration, including configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and vSphere is beneficial.
  • Clearance Level: TS/SCI w/ Poly.
